Susan Spencer has more than 24 years of business experience, 20 in technology marketing and communications. She founded Spencer Communications in 2000 to provide strategic marketing and public relations services to software and other emerging technology companies. Spencer Communications is a virtual agency that provides companies with strategic, hands-on senior level counsel; a team of proven, successful professionals; and high value services. Since its inception, Spencer Communications has represented companies in the following markets: call center, compliance, customer data integration, database, directory services, e-commerce, e-health, enterprise collaboration, financial applications, firmware, green commerce, identity recognition, imaging, IP telephony, master data management, m-commerce, messaging, network monitoring and measurement, online advertising, recovery, rules management, security, virtual worlds, VoIP and wireless infrastructure.
Prior to founding Spencer Communications, Susan was senior vice president and director of the technology practice for GCI Group’s San Francisco office. She created strategies and practices for the agency’s technology clients and managed over $3 million in annual billings. Susan’s largest client was the Sun Microsystems software account, at one time the largest account in GCI Group’s global network, which included: Internet infrastructure, security, messaging, Solaris and Java operating systems, network management, portal and application development software. In addition, she provided strategy and positioning and directed programs for GCI clients in the e-commerce, networking, knowledge management and broadband markets.
Before joining GCI Group, Susan was a product manager for Microsoft, Adobe Systems and ZSoft and consulted with a number of technology companies on technology and marketing strategy. Susan has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, with an emphasis in marketing and strategic planning, and a BA with honors in Political Science from UCLA.
